If you are looking to decorate a nursery then you must look at these photos! This is Hugh’s nursery as decorated by his mother: Interior Designer and Decorator Belinda Nihill. Belinda has been in the design industry for over 10 years focusing on new home constructions but she is going to focus on building up the Nursery design part of her business- thank goodness because Hugh’s nursery is stunning! The blue on that feature wall is amazing! It makes me want to makeover my own son’s room!

"Toys in the Nursery"

Belinda started decorating the nursery when Hugh was 7 weeks old as they hadn’t found out what sex he would be during her pregnancy.

We asked Belinda to share her inspiration behind the design:

“I loved all the tree decals that are being used in nurseries but couldn’t find one that I loved.  I ended up hand painting a tree (combining a number of different features from other trees I’d seen).  I cut out the owls on his tree using a few different papers.”

“We didn’t know Hugh’s sex, but I had the colour themes planned for both sexes.  I knew if it was a boy, the colours were going to dirty blue, navy blue, red & white and feature Owls, it just took a while to do as we moved into our new house when I was 37 weeks pregnant!”

"Nursery Prints"

Belinda is not a fan of main stream themes so she tried to customise alot or use unique special decorations:

*She added ribbon to a lamp,

*His quilt was made by my grandma

*Belinda created a 1,2,3 Owl prints (using different papers)

*The Hugh blocks were made by a family friend

*She purchased a funky little owl toy from a little local shop

*Belinda inherited a dresser from my nanny and my mum painted it to use in Hugh’s room

This truly is an amazing nursery and we thank Belinda for sharing it with Mini-Stylista

What a lovely looking nursery and fit for any little prince. The blue chosen looks very effective and has given me some inspiration for my baby’s room. Using such handmade and personalised items creates a wonderful individuality to the style. Many thanks for sharing these ideas.

I love this room! I am 6 months pregnant and don’t know what I am having, so I am torn on how to do the room! I love owls which are a great unisex animal for girls or boys…
Some great ideas here!

How gorgeous is this room!!!!
I LOVE owls too!!! I knew I was having a boy so I decided to get a whole heap of animal prints by Etsy Designer Moon Mum (She uses beautiful patterned paper and sews detail around) around my son’s nursery. I used a range of pastel tones with the artwork blues, greens and even pink! I also propped Kate finch elephant and giraffes too used these not as toys but decoration!
I should post pictures of my nursery here too! It has been featured on a few blogs and in print magazines but I never really added pictures to Style MIlk funny enough
Such an exciting time for you Sarah
All the best
